Emergency Public Safety Communications LLC Joins 9IA

Public safety consulting and program management firm becomes 9IAs 29th member Emergency Public Safety Communications, LLC (EPSC) joined the 9IA membership at its Annual Meeting last month in Indianapolis. EPSC is a 9-1-1 public safety consulting and program management firm. Glenn Roach, CEO, will represent EPSC at 9IA. 9IA has its largest membership since being founded nearly 5 years ago, with 12% membership growth in its 2010-2011 fiscal year.

Phone giants' proposal to drop some 911 lines strongly backed by California lawmakers

Telephone companies in California are lobbying to eliminate large parts of the 9-1-1 system, specifically "warm lines" that can call a 9-1-1 center even without active landline phone service. As fewer homeowners are maintaining landlines, eliminating the support of "warm lines" would save carriers approximately $100 million each year.

FCC Commences Inquiry on Survivability of America's Broadband Infrastructure

The FCC today launched an inquiry on the ability of existing broadband networks to withstand damage or severe overload as a result of natural disasters, terrorist attacks or other emergencies, as recommended in the National Broadband Plan.
